Translation

Ali has translated literary texts, mostly poetry, from Persian into English, often in collaboration with a notable Anglophone poet/scholar. Among his translations are those written with Dr. Kenneth Avery in Fifty Poems of Attar. A number of Ali’s translations were also featured in the short film and theatre performance A Sufi Valentine (pictured). Ali has also compiled and translated an anthology with John Kinsella, titled Six Vowels and Twenty Three Consonant: An Anthology of Persian Poetry from Rudaki to Langroodi, released in 2012.
