Ali’s work as theatre/film scriptwriter include his collaborations with director Bill Mousoulis: A philosophical vampire film called A Nocturne (pictured) (Innersense Productions, 2007), winner of the Best Film award at the 2007 Melbourne Underground Film Festival and selected for Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, Athens International Film Festival, and Cork Film Festival in Ireland, reviewed here and here; and A Sufi Valentine (La Mama Theatre, Melbourne, 2004) a live poetry+film performance, reviewed here.

 

Ali’s staged plays include: Elixir (pictured), directed by Tanja Beer (The Storeroom, Melbourne, 2002), see the director-designer’s notes here; and Irene’s Inquisition, directed by Robert Lewis (Chapel Off Chapel, Melbourne, 2001).
